Education & Workforce Readiness

VISION

Serve as the primary liaison between the business and education communities, promoting the expectation that all levels of educational curriculum meets the existing and future workforce skill sets demanded by business and industry. Develop an available, well-trained workforce.

Membership

Vision

Raising Shoals Area Corporation’s visibility through membership systems to build, grow and manage business relationships, the data and information associated with them. Providing communication services to establish strategic, long-lasting partnerships through direct email, as well as, personal engagement in both Counties of the Lauderdale and Colbert marketplace.

Known For

Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies, Chamber Ambassador Programs, Member Retention, CRM System Engagement and Training of Ambassadors to Membership Acquisition.

Communications & Events

Vision

Focus efforts on the programs, events, and initiatives that matter most to The Shoals. In alignment with the core values stated in the Chamber's mission- advocacy, connectivity, and education- the Communications & Events division works diligently to provide messaging, programming, and events that encourage the business community of The Shoals. 

Known For

Signature events including Women in Business semi-annual events, Annual Meeting, Evening for Progress, and Investor Dinner. Quarterly and monthly events including Business After Hours and Lunch & Learns. The Communications division also oversees Investor Relations and Chamber perception and strategic messaging. 

Public Policy & Governmental Relations

Vision

Serve as the voice of the business community and economic development in the Shoals by encouraging business-friendly public policy and improving overall quality of life in the community.

Known For

Local & National Legislative Updates, Meet the Candidate, Annual Trips to Montgomery and Washington, D.C., Joint Legislative Agenda with NACOLG and SEDA.

Strategic Partnerships

Vision

To "Look East," and increase inclusivity of the entire North Alabama Region.

Known For

Working collectively with the Mayor's Offices and Chambers of Commerce in Huntsville, Madison, and Decatur to encourage excess growth in the Shoals' direction.

 

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

VISION

Initiate programming to spark recognition of all factors, beyond only race, when considering "DEI."

Known For

Incorporating information about the DEI Committee on the Shoal Chamber's website, including its mission statement. Conducting unconscious bias training for Shoals Chamber's Board of Directors, and considering DEI throughout the planning process of all Chamber events.

Initiatives

SAFE

The Shoals Allocation Fund for Entrepreneurship (SAFE) is an initiative by the Shoals Chamber of Commerce to encourage entrepreneurship in The Shoals and provide funding to help with start-up fees incurred during the process. SAFE operates as a partnership with each of the four municipalities within The Shoals region to promote community involvement and generate engaged business owners. Qualifications:

  • Must intend to own a brick & mortar
  • Must own and operate a business within Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, or Tuscumbia
  • Must be a new business (not a franchise or secondary location)

 

Eligible Fees:

  • Municipal Business License

ShoalsYP

Shoals Young Professionals is a young professionals organization of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. The focus of this vibrant group is to create an opportunity for driven young professionals to network with peers, become involved in community outreach, and grow into leadership roles within his/her profession and the community.

Shoals Young Professionals has hosted such events as Speed Networking, a Mayoral Debate, business and city tours and guest speakers on various topics.

Women in Business

Chamber Women in Business is a proud initiative of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. Created in 2017, the program's purpose is to create a network of support for women-owned business and young female professionals in the Shoals area of Alabama. Our vision is to NETWORK, MENTOR, SUPPORT, and EDUCATE the women of the Shoals. 

The Shoals Chamber of Commerce hosts Women in Business events semi-annually to encourage one another, exchange business cards, support our local businesses, experience educational programming and, of course, network. The Chamber invites you to connect with our Women in Business initiative and join us for our future gatherings!

Chamber Ambassadors

Ambassadors perform a wide variety of duties at the Shoals Chamber, but their main function is to help PROMOTE general membership services, enhance goodwill in the community and serve as the PUBLIC RELATIONS arm of the Chamber. Ambassadors WELCOME new Members to the Chamber also make Chamber NETWORKING events successful and enjoyable for everyone.

Chamber Ambassadors are heavily involved in online social media promotion of our New Members Business Pages, as well as promoting all the Shoals Chamber events by sharing to their employer organization pages. Ambassadors become patrons of new members and review them online for additional promotion.

 If you are an employee of a Shoals Chamber Member and would like the personal connection of our 1,000 representatives, you can apply to become one of our Shoals Chamber Ambassadors. The term is for one year.
